We're looking for thousands of youth volunteers across Africa to work with us in their countries, currently only South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda and Libya.
We offer training and remuneration for all volunteers

Roles and work of mapping volunteers

  • Work 2 to 3 days weekly, with a team in the area allocated
  • Record accurate pins/coordinates of places using gadgets provided.
  • Take quality photos of various sites/places of interest as instructed using gadgets provided.
  • Validate facts about sites/places of interest by answering not more than 1 short questionnaire weekly.
  • Work with local communities to gather stories and encourage their participation in preserving and promoting African heritage.
  • Assist with translating material from local languages or other languages to reach a broader audience and make information more accessible.

Prerequisites for mapping volunteers

  • MUST be a citizen of the country you apply to volunteer.
  • MUST posses valid national identification card or passport or driving license.
  • MUST be of universal adult suffrage age but not more than 38 years old.
  • MUST be of gender male or female. The organization respects all other genders but we don't yet have sufficient policy to safe guard other genders at the moment.
  • Must have got basic education and therefore an understanding of basic counting and basic science. ONLY training is still given to all volunteers before deployment.
  • Must be proficient in at least 1 local/native language of the country in which they apply to work.
  • Must not be a volunteer with us in any other roles or a mapping volunteer already registered in an earlier lot.
    Candidates that did not make it to deployment in an earlier lot can still apply

Training of volunteers

  • We train all volunteers, 3 to 4 months before deployment
  • All training is done in English. Without a good understanding of English, one may still be able to learn from colleagues if they can pass on the information in local language.
  • Training happens at designated training places at designated times typically during day.
  • We facilitate all training, provide material and pay necessary allowances.
  • Training happens 2 to 3 days in a week, a volunteer should attend at least 40% of all planned trainings to get through.
  • ONLY volunteers that exhibit an understanding of the work after training shall be selected. An assessment is done at the end of the training

Remuneration during training

Pre deployment weekly allowances USD 120 to USD 170
Designed to cover daily commuting, lodging, utility bills, meal expenses, internet charges, and any incidental needs that may arise.
This allowance is paid at the end of the week to volunteer that has attended at least 1 training session during that week

Pre deployment relocation allowance USD 208 to USD 243
A one-time allowance to help with expenses related to relocating to the training location, such as temporary storage, transport of personal belongings, or settling-in costs.
This allowance is paid at the end of the first month (as compensation) to volunteer that has attended at least 6 training sessions in the first month.

Note: Women get extra 23.8% of all remuneration above

Remuneration after deployment

Pro deployment weekly allowances USD 208 to USD 261
Designed to cover daily commuting, lodging, utility bills, meal expenses, internet charges, and any incidental needs that may arise.
This allowance is paid at the end of the week to volunteer that has performed as expected.

Pro deployment relocation allowance USD 250 to USD 290
A one-time allowance to help with expenses related to relocating to a station of work, such as temporary storage, transport of personal belongings, or settling-in costs.
This allowance is paid at the end of the first month of work (as compensation) to volunteer that has performed as expected.

Note: Women get extra 23.8% of all remuneration above
